 • Health Services Research The Institute communicates with many diverse audiences, including Rutgers faculty and students, government agencies (U.S. and abroad), nongovernmental organizations in various regions of the world, industries, foundations, and individual donors.   Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a (Mixed Methods) Research Project Manager for the Institute of Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. The Research Project Manager, as an investigative collaborator, will act in a leadership role on federally funded studies with responsibilities including direction of study activities, interfacing with investigators at multiple institutions, monitoring study progress, writing progress and final reports, leading authorship for scholarly peer-reviewed publications, providing guidance and supervision of further study data analysis.

Among the key duties of the position are the following: Develops modeling approaches best suited to data and inferential challenges in making appropriate inferences to address study research questions and hypotheses. Collaborates with faculty investigators in planning and implementing complex health services research analyses. Implements research analyses of large healthcare datasets incorporating billions of records. Designs and conducts statistical modeling of patient level outcomes and utilization. Leads multidisciplinary teams to plan and manage project implementation strategy and progress, develop and implement scientific strategies to best address study research questions, assure scientific rigor, utilization of appropriate analytic methods, and the scientifically appropriate integration of qualitative and quantitative methods in mixed-methods research. Takes a leading role in the writing and revision of scientific papers for highly selective scientific journals reporting results; prepare responses to peer reviewer critiques. Maintains expertise in state of the art analytic methods appropriate for each study; develop and apply sensitivity analyses to test robustness of conclusions. Assures scientific rigor of project reports and publications. Leads teams in assuring appropriate utilization of advanced biostatistical techniques including machine learning, propensity scoring, proportional hazards regression, and other complex modeling techniques. Maintains expertise and currency in relevant literature, as well as be able to prepare drafts of grant applications, papers, research planning memos, research reports, summaries and bibliographies to be shared within CHSR and IFH. Reviews funding opportunities that fit with the Center’s and Institute’s missions and priorities, contribute to the development of, and lead authorship of new grant applications in conjunction with Center leadership and staff. Facilitates necessary pilot analysis. Acts in a project leadership capacity managing major state and federally funded studies with responsibilities including leadership and monitoring of study activities, health policy research guidance, interfacing with investigators at multiple institutions and state agencies, and writing scientific progress and final reports. Researches the availability of very large datasets for research use as well as develop research protocols for Data Use Agreements and IRB review using new and existing datasets. Develops concept statements and outlines for planned papers and research studies, prepare selected sections of papers and applications, manage scientific timetables and deliverables, and work to assure that project work and deliverables are completed as planned. Prepares annual and other needed scientific progress reports for funded projects. Liaises with relevant collaborators, state officials, stakeholders, and other partners to identify collaboration and research opportunities and to engage partners in planning and conduct of relevant health services and policy research studies.
