Mixing Operator
**Job Title: Mixing Technician** **Job Description** The Mixing Technician is responsible for initiating the production process by preparing chemical formulas in the tanks, which are then used for the film coating process. This role is essential in ensuring the appearance, durability, and functionality of the entire product line. **Responsibilities** + Operate and understand the DCS System in the chemical room. + Accurately weigh and add required chemicals to the mixing tank for each batch. + Maintain adequate inventory of supplies for the coating department. + Keep the mixing area and chemical storage area clean and free of debris. + Mark all chemical and hazardous waste containers in accordance with federal and state regulations. + Clean all tank filters according to the operation manual. + Keep accurate records of the mixing process and report abnormal conditions to the Production Manager. + Operate a forklift as necessary. + Handle hazardous waste after appropriate training. **Essential Skills** + Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in machine operation, mechanical functions, and material handling. + Experience with rolling, rewinding, or slitting operations is ideal. + Strong attention to detail and ability to measure for quality purposes. + Perfect attendance record. + 3 years of experience or training in chemical mixing, lab, physical sciences, or a similar experiences. + Ability to perform basic math operations and read bar graphs. + Proficiency in using computers for inventory documentation, Excel, and company software. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Ability to work overtime as assigned and flexibility to cover different shifts. + Capability to lift 50 lbs unassisted and 120 lbs assisted, and roll gallons of 450 lbs regularly. + Ability to manage pumps, valves, and controls in a multi-level chemical process environment. **Why Work Here?** This company offers a small, family-like atmosphere with a supportive and experienced team. The chemical room, while small and with a strong chemical smell, complies with OSHA standards. Respirators are required only when working directly with certain chemicals. Employees must be comfortable with a strong paint smell in the chemical room and a yellow tint due to UV-blocking film over the lights. The facility requires PPE and an air shower to eliminate lint upon entry. The warehouse area may not be temperature controlled. The shift is from 4:30am to 1pm, with a requirement to start at 2am or 3am on some days. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Chesterfield, Virginia. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
