Position Summary

This position is in Microbiology.  Performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols that require a high level of independent judgment and responsibility. The Clinical Technical Specialist performs at an advanced level requiring extensive knowledge in trouble shooting quality control, instrument and equipment failures, specimen collection problems, etc. Able to work independently. May be specialized in areas as blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology, histology, or cytology, appropriate to the services provided and to the ages of the patients served. 

Responsibilities

Serves as department supervisor in the absence of the Director or Technical Supervisor  

Qualifications Associate in Science or Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science with a year of clinical training in an accredited school of medical/histology/cyto technology, or 3 years clinical experience in an area or areas of the laboratory. BS degree with experience preferred. 2 years of laboratory experience required.  Certification in medical technology or medical laboratory technology by a nationally recognized certification agency with active registration.
