The Victim Assistance Specialist of the Office for Missing and Murdered Black Women and Girls (MMBWG), under administrative direction is responsible for the direct services provided to individuals, families and community; support the community-level response to MMBWG violence, awareness and prevention; effectively communicates with other service providers within Minnesota’s Black Communities; federal, state, and local law enforcement; federal and state agencies; and community based organizations and advocates; provides victim services and resources; assists in developing and providing training on MMBWG violence to the agency's staff, and to other agencies and professionals; assists in educating the general community on issues relating to MMBWG violence; to work with other agencies to coordinate services and to prevent MMBWG violence; and perform other duties as assigned. **Minimum Qualifications** _To Facilitate proper crediting, please ensure your resume/application clearly describe your experience in the areas listed below and indicates the beginning month and year for each job held. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of the qualifications will be considered for this position._ + Three* (3) years of experience performing analysis and exercising judgement in the areas of human/victim's services, social work, criminal justice, behavioral science, or related field. + Experience working in victim services and advocacy, cultural competency, and trauma informed approaches. + Experience developing educational materials and programs for community awareness and conducting trainings. + Experience providing counseling or advocacy to persons with victimization issues working in a social service capacity with a vulnerable community. + Demonstrate knowledge and experience with the criminal justice process, trauma informed victim issues, and key factors for the perpetuation of violence against women. + Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs. + Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities. _*Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Public Policy, Criminology/Criminal justice, Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, or related field may substitute for one (1) year of work experience._ _*Master’s Degree in Statistics, Public Policy, Criminology/Criminal justice, Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, or related field may substitute for two (2) years of work experience._ _*PhD in Statistics, Public Policy, Criminology/Criminal justice, Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, or related field may substitute for three (3) years of work experience._ **Preferred Qualifications** + Knowledge of root causes that led to the disparities of the violence experienced by Black women and girls. + Knowledge of racial disparities, inmate-partner violence, homicide, and human trafficking prevention. + Professional work experience with crime victim issues. + Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally-resonate evaluation practices. + Demonstrated experience working within multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. **Physical Requirements** Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools.
