**Job Description**
THIS POSTING IS FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES
**ORDER OF PREFERENCE: The selection for Maintenance and Construction is made on the basis of fitness and ability with preference given to: Maintenance and Construction District, System-Wide (L689), Authority-Wide and external candidates, respectively.**
**Minimum Qualifications**
**Education**
+ High school diploma or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
**Experience**
_Twelve (12) months following the achievement of a particular grade level (i.e. Grades D, C, B, A and AA), an incumbent may be advanced to the next grade level provided he/she has taken and passed any required written or practical tests, acquired any required certifications and has met acceptable fitness for duty, work record and job performance requirements_ .

+ A minimum of two (2) years of experience performing satisfactorily the duties of Mobile Lift Mechanic, or related experience
**Certification/Licensure**
+ A valid District of Columbia, Maryland or Virginia motor vehicle operator¿s license issued from jurisdiction of residence

**Job Summary**
The Mobile Lift Mechanic performs complex maintenance and repair work on heavy mobile lifts and other powered equipment. In accordance with applicable code, principles and standards, the incumbent repairs all equipment classified as mobile lift equipment. The Mobile Lift Mechanic also repairs other powered equipment to include pressure washers, sand blasters, compressors, platform scrubbers, generators, pumps, tractors, and snow removal equipment.
**_Job Levels_** _: At each successive grade level of this job (i.e. Grades D, C, B, A and AA), the incumbent is expected to demonstrate increased, distinguishing levels of proficiency and efficiency in knowledge, skills and abilities when performing the assigned duties and essential functions described in this job description_
**Essential Functions**
+ Repairs mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, drive and power systems on heavy self-propelled man lifts and other powered equipment and troubleshoots repairs and calibrates associated components.
+ Replaces or installs mobile lift and other powered equipment components and fixtures, repairs and overhauls defective components, operates devices to test performance, lubricates and cleans components and equipment.
+ Makes major adjustments to functional components devices and control systems. Dismantles mobile lift and other powered equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts. Using hoists, cranes and hand and power tools rebuilds components and assemblies, such as hydraulic cylinders, engines, pumps, motors, electrical/electronic switches and associated wiring.
+ Fits and installs gears, aligns, meshes, and connects repaired units to related mechanisms. Ensures related systems (mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulic, drive, and power) are properly adjusted and connected.
+ Performs preventive maintenance inspections in compliance with monthly schedules. Lays out work assignments and determines methods, techniques, and materials needed to effectively accomplish assignments.
+ Responds to equipment trouble reports, determines the problems and repairs, and restores mobile lift and small powered equipment to serviceable status. Ensures equipment, systems and associated mechanical devices are maintained according to Authority and manufacturer standards.
+ Completes all required forms, tags, and other documentation that describes maintenance work, enters data into computer records, and prepares parts requisitions for the supervisor's approval. Ensures equipment, systems and associated mechanical devices are properly maintained according to Authority standards and manufacturer standards.
