Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist with 3 or more years of recent phlebotomy experience. The ideal candidate must be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

- Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate equipment, and update patient information.

- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

- Clearly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process (e.g., urine or fecal) in a courteous manner.

- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.

- Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.

- Package specimens for transport.

- Store specimen samples at required temperatures and ensure proper labeling and handling according to protocol to maintain specimen integrity.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Brooklyn, New York.

Work Environment

This is a float position based in Brooklyn. The phlebotomist will float to various Patient Service Centers (PSCs) as needed, covering mostly Brooklyn but occasionally Staten Island and Queens. The schedule is from 7am to 8pm depending on the site, with most sites opening between 8/8:30am and potentially requiring coverage until 6-7pm. The role includes rotating Saturdays, with some Staten Island sites opening at 7am. All tolls, parking, and mileage between PSCs will be reimbursed.
