We are seeking an experienced Mobile Phlebotomist to join our team in the Jersey City area. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and maintaining accurate patient information. This role requires flexibility, as you will be floating within a 60-minute radius of Jersey City, covering various medical practices including internal medicine, OBGYN, and pediatrics.
Responsibilities
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections as required.
+ Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
+ Fully understand all physicians' orders.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
+ Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport.
+ Store specimen samples at the required temperatures and in appropriate containers/tubes, accurately labeling and following protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
+ Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
+ Attend annual department training sessions.
+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in blood draws and phlebotomy techniques, including experience with hard sticks.
+ Ability to float and drive own vehicle.
+ 1+ years of high-volume phlebotomy experience.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology and blood pressure measurement.
+ Experience with medical assisting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ GED or HS Diploma required.
+ Experience in hard sticks.
+ Flexibility and adaptability to new environments and different medical practices.
+ Comfortable handling different personalities and demographics of patients.
Work Environment
This role requires floating within a 60-minute radius of Jersey City, including areas such as Clifton, Livingston, Maplewood, and Hudson County. The schedule is 40 hours per week, with details provided on Sunday evenings. You must be ready to cover any site at short notice, including every other Saturday. Mileage expenses can be submitted for distances over 30 miles from your home. Adaptability and flexibility are crucial, as you will work in various medical settings and handle different patient demographics.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
