Serco has an immediate opening for a mid-level Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to conduct modeling in support of PEO Submarines/Team Submarine in the creation of a digital concept model of the New Attack Submarine (SSN(X)). This position is on-site at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. You will work directly in support of the MBSE Lead in the SSN(X) Program Office (PMS 351) and integrate into a team of modelers across various organizations in support of this effort.

The acquisition of the OHIO Class replacement and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the COLUMBIA Class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
The acquisition of New Construction Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy’s newest class of nuclear attack submarines. The program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B. Additionally, successful improvement of the Class' capabilities is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
The SSN(X) Office (PMS 351) is responsible for the acquisition and design of the future fast attack submarine and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the future submarine. The future Attack Submarine will be designed to retain multi-mission capability and sustained combat presence in denied waters with a focus on greater speed, stealth, and horizontal payloads and salvo rates. In this role you will:
Create complex MBSE models in Cameo Systems Modeler following the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) to support SSN(X) early-stage design and acquisition activities, such as the Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Capability Development Document (CDD), and specification requirements developmentAssist in the analysis of these models to develop technical requirements and technical decision pointsPerform data collection and preparation, model formulation and set-up, and execution of production runs or other model experimentationSupport data exploration and visualization of historical and forecast performance and other dataBuild, test, update and maintain tools and techniques for ingesting and processing input and output dataBuild, test, update and maintain tools and techniques that integrate the various input/output data sets from multiple models and simulatorsExhibit transparency by sharing all salient facts relevant to the task at hand. Routinely provide honest and frank feedback to leads on the achievability of desired deliverables within proposed timeframesCommunicate unexpected setbacks quickly and proposes mitigation actions. Incorporate lessons learned in future planningArrive on time prepared to actively participate in all meetings. QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will have:
SECRET clearance required to start.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program.A minimum of three years of technical experience is required.Proficiency with UAF and SysML Systems Engineering languages.Experience using No Magic Cameo Systems Modeler software.Strong Technical Writing skills.Experience in Government or industry modeling large complex System of Systems.Experience with manipulating and maintaining large and complex databases.Familiar with Agile methodologies for product development and process improvement.10% travel required.Desired experience and skills:
Graduate degree in Operations Research, Statistical Analysis, or other higher-level mathematics.Demonstrated understanding of the use of models, simulation, and visualization technologies in decision support roles.Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (e.g. Teams, SharePoint, OneNote) and Atlassian Products (e.g. Jira, Confluence) is a plus.Experience with submarine design is a plus.Don't let this opportunity pass you by. In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $76,542.39 to $127,570.65; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
