Mold Setter, Die setter, setter, plastics-molding machine Sets up and adjusts automatic compression, injection, or transfer machines used to mold plastic materials to specified shape, following blueprints, and utilizing knowledge of machine functions. Reads specifications to determine machine setup and prescribed temperature and time settings. Positions, aligns, and secures assembled mold or mold components, and machine accessories, onto machine press bed, according to guide marks, using hoist, power tools, and hand tools. Attaches connecting lines, for example air, oil, or water to mold, and adjusts controls to regulate mold temperature. Sets machine controls and turns dials to regulate specified machine forming pressure and plastic curing time in mold. Starts machine to produce sample product.Measures and visually inspects sample product for surface and dimensional defects, using microscope, micrometer, and gauges, and adjusts machine setup to eliminate defects. May also repair and maintain machines and auxiliary equipment, using hand tools and power tools. May also be designated according to type of machine set up as Compression-Molding-Machine Setter (plastic industry), Injection-Molding-Machine Setter (plastics prod.)

Conditions of Employment 

Must be able to comply with the following conditions of employment: 

Climate Ranging from 70 – 100 degrees F No Jewelry, including facial piercings, wedding rings, watches, etc No cellphones on production floor, personal items will be kept in provided lockers onsite No pocket knives or firearms on company grounds Must wear the specified PPE at all times: bump caps, hair/beard net, safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes Position may require working in different buildings at any given time Abide by all Safety, GMP, and quality regulations 

Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.  Employee could be exposed to seasonal weather conditions if required to go outdoors.  Proper use of PPE is required at all times.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be regularly required to: 

Remain stationary extended periods of time Move around production floor Communicate with subordinates Position self to ground level as needed Move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 45 lbs Identify, recognize and assess documents, machinery and more. 

Required Education/Experience   

Previous plastic injection/ blow molding/ reheat stretch molding experience Able to troubleshoot or problem solve machines Able to multitask with responsibilities Able to fill out proper documentation needed for daily paperwork
