Job Title: Mold Set-Up Technician
Job Description

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mold Set-Up Technician is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of injection/blow molding machines. The position requires a thorough understanding of machine operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance processes to ensure efficient production of high-quality plastic products.

ResponsibilitiesSet up injection and blow molding machines for shaping plastics.Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to select, position, and secure machinery.Adjust machine settings to complete mold setup tasks accurately and timely according to specifications and standards.Install dies in and out of machines using clamps, bolts, and hand tools according to work order specifications.Complete all necessary paperwork (e.g., cycle time sheets, set-up sheets) accurately and promptly.Set up molds and cycle into specifications within a reasonable time frame.Possess basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems to troubleshoot minor problems.Understand materials and cycles to explain why different materials require different cycles.Make proper adjustments to machines when ware is not running to specifications.Shut down and start up machines correctly.Clean and perform preventive maintenance on molds and tooling as required.Clean and maintain the machines as needed.Drive and operate forklifts when necessary.Essential SkillsExperience with injection and blow molding machine setup and maintenance.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.Basic math, computer, and organizational skills.Ability to read schematics and blueprints.Demonstrated maintenance and troubleshooting skills involving mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Experience with systems using electric motors and sensors for operational functions.2+ years of experience within the plastics industry.Mechanical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.5+ years of experience in a maintenance role preferred.Some post-secondary education preferred (e.g., technical or vocational education).Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a 90,000 sq. ft. facility that specializes in plastic extrusion for various food and consumer products, including shampoo, lotion, and cleaning solution bottles of various sizes and colors. The facility features 15 extrusion lines and 2 labeling lines, utilizing extrusion machines and mostly mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic driven machines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00
