ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Apprentice consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant. Embodies commitment for a safe workplace.Assist in the inspection and repair of pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, electrical and mechanical systems on machines.Complete work assigned by Maintenance Manager.Communicate activities with Maintenance Manager and other members of department.Maintain neat and orderly appearance of shop and machines.Obtain parts in emergency cases.Assist other departments as requested by Maintenance Manager.Seek training to stay current with job requirements.Assume control of machine when a situation arises which has potential for personal injury or rapid deterioration of machine. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent.Knowledgeable on mechanical systems; must possess a general mechanic aptitude.Basic troubleshooting skills.Exposure to manufacturing environment and loud noise; Hearing protection required at times.Equal amounts of time spent sitting, standing, bending, and lifting/moving.Able to work effectively with a team, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.Able to climb ladders safely and without assistance for a minimum of 15 times per shift.Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex.Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.Able to use both hands for effective manipulation of tools/parts.Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis.Able to stand/walk for 7 hours of an 8-hour shift.
