Job Description

In this role, you will prepare high-quality bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) DNA daily to support our Production team following current SOPs in the laboratory. You will perform quality control analysis of prepared BAC DNA constructs using various techniques and provide support to existing Next-generation sequencing QC workflows. You will analyze results, report data clearly, and operate and maintain laboratory robotics and other instrumentation.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare high-quality BAC DNA (maxi and midi-preps) daily following current SOPs.Perform quality control analysis of prepared BAC DNA constructs using restriction digests, gel electrophoresis (standard and pulsed-field), Sanger sequencing reactions, and next-generation sequencing.Provide support to existing Next-generation sequencing QC workflows.Analyze results and report data in a clear and concise manner.Operate and maintain laboratory robotics and other instrumentation.Maintain accurate electronic records and manage daily tasks efficiently.Essential SkillsExperience with PCR and molecular biology techniques.Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology or related field.1+ year experience with PCR.Knowledge of DNA analysis software (e.g., MacVector) or ability to learn new software and techniques.Experience with DNA, RNA, and cell culture.Familiarity with flow cytometry and next-generation sequencing (NGS).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with lab automation and specific SOPs.Knowledge of additional data analysis software.3-5 years of related experience (internships included).Work Environment

You will be working in the VelociGene Vector Construction group, which creates genetically engineered models to support early drug discovery. This is a hands-on laboratory role, requiring presence in the lab 5 days a week. The schedule is flexible as long as an 8-hour shift is completed, with start times ranging from 7am to 9am. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
