GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of leadership personnel; works in a self-directed manner to install, test,
document, and maintain assigned laboratory information systems within specified boundaries
according to established protocols; makes formal written and oral presentations on projects in
compliance with established project methodology; and interacts with laboratories and laboratory
systems customers. Has advanced laboratory systems expertise and leads a
system/application team within Pathology Informatics. Handles review of requests, escalated
issues and upgrades relative their team’s applications suite.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analysis
Meets with clients and/or managerial personnel in order to determine and define specificsystems’ information requirements and objectives for laboratory systems requests for a team
within Pathology Informatics.
Project Management
Involved in projects impacting laboratory systems or laboratory data with a high degree oforganizational scope, impact, and risk that may involve multiple systems within HFHS. Self
directed as to project completion.
Systems/Applications Development
Designs and specifies laboratory systems and applications functionality using appropriateapplication tools
Systems/Applications Implementation
Develops plans for the implementation of laboratory systems applications and enhancementsfor pathology.
Systems/Applications Support
On-call to support laboratories and resolve issues for assigned information systems,applications, and associated information systems equipment; acts as a resource to other
analysts on their team.
Teamwork / Staff Oversight
Oversees and coordinates the work of others within their systems/application team. Workscollaboratively with team members and customers in Pathology; assists others relative their
areas of expertise.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Completion of an accredited bachelor’s degree program in: chemical, physical, or biologic
science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or information systems.
2. 5-7 years progressive experience supporting laboratory information systems applications
and operations.
3. High level of analytical ability to gather and interpret data to: design systems and
applications, and resolve systems issues.
4. Planning skills to manage personal workload in a self-directed work environment and to
complete assignments, projects, and issue resolution within appropriate timeframes.
5. Organizational skills to coordinate projects within the department of Pathology and
Laboratory Medicine and to direct the work of a small project team of employees and/or
vendors.
