**Responsibilities**
**Position Responsibilities:**

11. Performs continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered.
12. Identifies changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern, notifying RN of these changes.
13. Responds appropriately to emergency situations, runs a continuous EKG strip and notifies appropriate staff.
14. Sets up, calibrates and maintains settings and alarms on telemetry module.
15. Obtain and post strips every 4 hours on each patient.
16. Obtain and post strips on patients having chest discomfort and document vital signs on the strip.
17. Obtain and post strips during physician initiated procedures, i.e.: cardioversion, carotid massage.
18. Obtain and post strips on patients having rhythm disturbances and documenting any medication given for disturbance.
19. Maintain monitor record book, with patient name, hospital number, date on and off, number of days on monitor and computer charge number.
20. Contributes to the learning experience of new employees and students.
21. Promptly investigates and follows up on unusual incidents and communicates with supervisor.
22. Completes work for own shift and gives report to oncoming Monitor Technician.
23. Keeps work area neat and clean; no food or drink in work station.
24. Contributes to the development of Unit Standards of Care and Standards of Practice; Practice is consistent with standards of care and standards of practice.
**Qualifications**
**Education Level**
**Minimum:**
High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
Preffered minimum of one (1) year of direct work experience as a Telemetry Monitor Tech &
successful completion of examination
**Licensure/** **Certification**
Required:
BLS certification (through an approved AHA program)
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
1. Perform the duties stated under position responsibilities.
2. Acquire adequate and accurate information for physician interpretation.
3. Relate effectively with co-workers, physicians and general staff as part of a team in a professional manner at all times.
4. Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, visitors, physicians and other team members.
5. Respond calmly and effectively in stressful environments.
Experience
Required:
**Pay Range**
$12.80 - $17.60 /hour
