Position: Monitor Technician Department: Telemetry Hours / Shift: Part-Time Nights, 24hr/week, 7pm-7am Overview: The Monitor Tech is responsible for surveillance of patient cardiac monitors, providing nurses and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern and prior variances. Job Duties: Maintaining high-level surveillance of patient's cardiac rhythms. Communicates with nursing/clinician team of any rate or rhythm changes. Measures and interprets patients heart rhythm and documents on patient record. Initiates and discontinues monitoring on notification of admission, transfer, or discharge from the bedside clinician. Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. and/or current Mercy coworker. Monitor tech course completion and/or passing score of 85% on monitor tech competency exam during orientation period. Experience: None required. Other: Basic computer skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is essential. Excellent communication skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure is a must.
