Monitor Tech Unit Coordinator

They provide assistance in transporting, transferring and lifting. They perform cleaning Functions in patient care unit as delegated, and perform selected diagnostic tests. Ability to provide continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns of patients on telemetry and reports significant information to appropriate nursing personnel; Functions within a designated hospital area to assist nursing personnel in the close observation in the monitoring of patients._ **Essential Key Job Responsibilities** + _Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff_ + _Monitors and records vital signs_ + _Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs_ + _Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output_ + _Obtains and records daily weight_ + _Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter_ + _Reports changes in patient’s status promptly to RN_ + _Performs as patient care companion when needed_ + _Assists in the admission, transfer and discharge process_ + _Performs unit housekeeping needs_ + _Acts as a runner/transporter_ + _Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting variances to appropriate personnel_ + _Updates assigned bed status_ + _Maintains a safe environment by responding to all bed alarms, call lights, telephones and alerting the correct person_ + _Keeps patient environment clean, Performs comfort rounds, keeps hallways clear of obstruction, reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately, and adheres to patient safety precautions_ + _Communicates with patient’s family, physicians, and unit personnel and peers in an accurate, courteous, and professional manner_ + _Acts as receptionist for unit; has limited use of the hospital information systems according to hospital policy dependent on the need of unit. This can include, but not limited to: consulting in Cerner, navigate through Cerner, discharge patients, put milestones into tele tracking, maintain paper charts and checking on MD orders_ + _Removes saline locks_ + _Order floor stock and puts it away_ + _Perform 12 lead EKGs where unit allows_ + _Continuous observation of monitored EKG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered. Sets up, calibrates and Maintains settings and alarms on telemetry module. Obtains rhythm strip at beginning of shift, on admission and whenever changes occur. Labels strip with patient identification, time, lead monitored, PR interval, ST interval, QRS interval_ + _Trouble shoots telemetry equipment, Ensures monitors are functioning properly, ensure telemetry supplies are readily available. Accounts for all telemetry transmitters, Verifies daily telemetry charges_ + _Identifies changes in rate, rhythm, or pattern, notifying RN of these changes. Responds appropriately to emergency situations, runs a continuous EKG strip and notifies appropriate staff_ + _Demonstrates a commitment to personal growth and development by completing annual mandatory in-services and Code Validation within given time frame, attends unit-based in-services, attends monthly departmental meetings.
