Monitor Technician Position Summary

The Monitor Technician observes and identifies patient cardiac rhythms via telemetry monitoring systems, notifying appropriate nursing personnel of changes in the patient's cardiac rhythm.

Monitor Technician Position Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of basic cardiac rhythm recognition course at
Peninsula Regional Medical Center or other facility Successful completion of Medical Terminology course preferred. Basic computer skills and verbal and written communication skills required. 6 months experience with cardiac monitoring preferred. Experience in healthcare field such as EMT is desirable. Basic math skills to include multiplication, division, addition and subtraction of decimals and mathematical calculations/percentages. Ability to work independently, under time and accuracy pressures, to work with others in close quarters, to prioritize effectively and to maintain focus/concentration while watching multiple screens for an entire shift.  Requires the ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship intradepartmentally and interdepartmentally
