Summary This position is in Flight Program Operations, Quality Assurance Group. Serves as a Continuting Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) auditor responsible for managing and conducting internal audits and assessments of an air carrier's Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP) . Responsibilities As Senior Auditor, incumbent performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a manager. May act as a contributing specialist for internal evaluation activities to ensure the aircraft and/or its components are in airworthy condition for safe operations. Applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of the aircraft maintenance operations, program objectives and strategies, data collection methods, data analysis techniques, and reporting formats. Typical assignments may include providing guidance to less- experienced professionals; planning, designing, collecting and analyzing data for quality programs, reporting findings, ensuring ethical standards, managing relationships with stakeholders, and engaging in continuous learning and improvement, recommending solutions to complex problems; preparing and reviewing management reports, preparing and delivering training, and developing and recommending improvements to systems and/or processes to improve operational efficiency. Independently plans time. Identifies, plans, and organizes available resources to accomplish internal audits. Makes optimal use of resources to complete activities within established schedules. Ensures that the program is properly implemented to achieve its goals. Contacts are internal and external. May act as a point of contact to provide advice and guidance on the applications of policies and procedures. May be called upon to communicate FAA positions on policies and procedures internally and externally. Established policies/procedures provide guidance and to ensure project activities align with the mission goals and objectives but allow considerable discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es) or develop new approaches. Assignments regularly require interpretations of internal and external policies and extrapolations from precedents. Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Identifies and corrects discrepancies in their maintenance programs by proactively looking for indicators of deficiencies and reactively looking at the results of those deficiencies. Develops and recommends approaches to address current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management and/or more experienced professionals to solve audits issues and/or problem areas. Work is reviewed rarely, typically though status reports and at project completion, to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities. Work activities typically impact directly on the objectives of one or more organizational units, major subdivisions, and/or LOB/SOs and may affect the objectives of the FAA. In some specialties, the work often affects internal and external customers. Requirements Conditions of Employment We are not accepting applications from noncitizens. Qualifications To qualify for this FV-I (FG/GS-13) position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H (FG/GS-12) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes experience in a manufacturing or production environment, including familiarity with quality control standards, the ability to read and interpret technical documents and regulations; Experience with quality program in a public and/or private aviation operating environment; Experience examining and reviewing aviation related technical documents and regulations.
