Skills and Competencies:
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with individuals/teams with different backgrounds and at all levels. Excellent problem-solving skills. Can hit deadlines while maintaining high standards.
Education:
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, or a STEM degree combined with a strong level of programming interest and ability. MSc/PhD degrees in relevant fields are advantageous.
Responsibilities:
The role will involve a wide variety of activities associated with developing and supporting our products and services including:
Delivering regular product releases to our large customer base, working in an agile Scrum team to deliver both improvements to existing functionality, as well as new products and capabilities. Work in a variety of technologies and application footprints, from desktop software to cloud-hosted applications.Providing technical support backup to our customer support team, assisting with technical questions from customers. Identifying and working on opportunities to continuously improve our software development lifecycle.Access to both in-house training and attending relevant external courses and conferences to aid with professional development.
About the Graduate Program:
As a graduate, you will establish a diverse and relevant career foundation-gaining insights into our business, exploring opportunities for career advancement, and refining your skills for future growth. Commencing in September 2025, you will join an international group of Moody’s Insurance Solutions graduates. The journey begins with a month-long training session led by our network of top developers, scientists, product managers, customer success experts, and clients. Subsequently, you will engage in our rotation program, obtaining hands-on experience within various teams and disciplines. These rotations will deepen your understanding of our products, their development processes, the companies that utilize them, and the value and insights they provide. Your work will span multiple products and markets, allowing you to enhance technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills.
About the Team:
Our highly skilled and diverse Edinburgh team focuses predominantly on a variety of activities associated with our Scenario Generation & Financial reporting capabilities. Insurance companies are adapting to many challenges range from managing climate related risk through to significant changes in the regulatory environment in which they operate. Our Insurance Solutions team provides insurers with cutting edge mathematical modelling products and tools that are embedded in new technologies, allowing firms to harness our scalable cloud-based modelling and reporting solutions to meet their increasing and evolving demands.
About the Role:
The role would suit Computer Science graduates who would like to leverage and build upon their knowledge and skills to help solve complex real-world problems in the financial services sector. The engineering team support and develop a wide range of products, from the industry-leading Moody’s Analytics Scenario Generator, a market-leading stochastic modelling solution widely used in the life/general insurance, asset management and wealth/pension industries, to greenfield multi-tenant Software-as-a-Service products delivered using serverless cloud- native architectures. The role also offers the opportunity to get involved in the financial modelling side of our products, working closely with our research team to deliver new and enhanced modelling capabilities across the entire product suite, should an applicant be interested in this area of software engineering. As such, applicants from a Math or Physics background with strong programming skills would be a good fit too.
