MOSDOH - Clinical General Dentistry Faculty

 A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking exempt Clinical General Dentistry Faculty at the St. Louis Dental Center. The position reports to the Director of Clinical Faculty and is responsible for supervising MOSDOH students in the Comprehensive Care Unit (CCU) to provide care to their patient family.

Major Job Duties

Supervise students in the comprehensive care unit to provide comprehensive care to their patient familyMaintain Standards of Care and ensure continuity of care for all patients in the CCUParticipate in clinic quality assurance and continuous quality improvement measuresWork on the clinic floor 4-5 days per week, depending on faculty practice dayAssist the staff, faculty, and administration in St. Louis and Kirksville to train adjunct faculty to achieve clinical calibration.Work with the dental assistant(s) and Patient Service Advocates and contribute to performance review evaluations in conjunction with the Vice Dean of Clinical Affairs and Advanced Dental EducationCoordinate with the Director of Clinical Faculty for staff leave (vacation, medical) and clinic floor coverageComplete administrative reports as needed and all ATSU-required employee training (RET)Track student progress and collaborate with CCU Directors, Specialty Care Directors, and the Vice Dean of Clinical Affairs and Advanced Dental Education on student deficienciesAssure patient, student, and staff safety and communicationPerform dental procedures on patients as neededServe on committees as assignedSupport/participate in an after-hours emergency care program as neededPerform additional duties as assigned by the Vice Dean of Clinical Affairs and Advanced Dental EducationPre-doctoral Dental ProgramAssure comprehensive care and continuity of care. Promote and support the General Dental Practice Model.

Skills and Requirements

D.D.S. or D.M.D. degreeMust have teaching experienceMust know dental practice operationsMust be highly skilled in general dentistryAdaptable and motivatedAble to work independentlyTeam orientedPersonableAt least five years experience in a dental teaching environment.At least five years experience in private practice where dentistry is performed.

Diplomacy is a must. Individuals must be organized. Excellent communication skills. Adaptable and motivated. Able to work independently.Team-oriented, strong mentoring, and personable. Excellent leadership skills.
