MOSDOH - SCU Director, Urgent Care - Assistant Professor

A.T. Still University's Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) is seeking an exempt SCU Director, Urgent Care - Assistant Professor at the St. Louis Dental Center. This position reports to the Director of Clinical Faculty. The SCU Director, Urgent Care - Assistant Professor manages and mentors MOSDOH students in the Urgent Care Center to assure attainment of predoctoral clinical competency in all dental areas, particularly those involved in the Urgent Care Center.

Major Job Duties

Manage and monitor the utilization of the Urgent Care center in providing access to care for underserved populations during and beyond business hours. Assist the Dean and Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs and Advanced Dental Education in developing protocols for the Urgent Care workflow. Consider exploring grants and funding opportunities to further expand the hours and services of the Urgent Care operations. Promote the Urgent Care center by focusing on its community service and predoctoral education opportunities in print and electronic media. Expand the educational opportunities of triaging/managing dental urgent care/oral medicine services to D3 & D4 students. Collaborate with CCU and SCU directors to integrate Urgent Dental Care needs into the D3/D4 curriculum. Integrate oral pathology/oral medicine essential experiences into Urgent Care. Integrate biomedical, behavioral, and clinical sciences into the D3/D4 curriculum, relating to management of patients with urgent care needs. Develop a robust D3/D4 curriculum in Urgent Care that uses biomedical, behavioral, and clinical sciences to successfully prepare students to challenge the INDBE. Develop curriculum to allow for collaboration with other institutions regarding interprofessional education and interprofessional collaborative care, thus promoting whole person healthcare. Promote healthcare literacy by allowing patients who seek urgent care to access comprehensive care and long term maintenance within the clinic. Research and disseminate data relating to access of care through individual scholarly endeavors and student research. Assure services are provided in a timely manner to patients reporting to Urgent Care. Manage the predoctoral rotation in Urgent Care.

Skills and Requirements

D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree Must be highly skilled in general dentistry Knowledge in the management of emergency/urgent dental needs Experience in minor oral surgery procedures Teaching experience Dental practice operations experience Team oriented Personable
