Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Ft. Bliss)

The Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors. Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Is familiar with GMV 1.1’s, M1113s, M1151s, M1165s M1152s, MRAPs (RG31, RG33 and MATV), ATVs, MRZR-A, MRZR-D, and other power-driven equipment that may require Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Technical Manuals assigned to the designated SF Group.

Serves as the customer SME on all maintenance related issues.

Performs repairs and services at the Organizational and intermediate levels of maintenance for all FOSOV Program of Record (POR) equipment.

Performs all scheduled and routine unscheduled vehicle maintenance at the unit site and off site if deployed to another CONUS location.

Performs engine, transmission and electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic on assigned equipment to determine required repairs IAW applicable technical manuals.

Must be capable of replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings or other engine parts that have become unserviceable on all types of FOSOV Program of Record (POR) vehicles.

Qualifications

The applicant seeking the mechanic position must also have worked on the family military vehicles and have at least 5 years of hard maintenance experience.

Must be a U.S. citizen with an active security clearance SECRET level or higher.

Must be able to maintain a secret clearance.

Must be capable of replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings or other engine parts that have become unserviceable on all types of FOSOV Program of Record (POR) vehicles.

Ability to work in all types of weather.

Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
