Job Summary:
Operates a tractor trailer semitrailer or combination vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 lbs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Vehicles are driven primarily for transporting merchandise supplies and other materials to and from Navy Exchanges.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
A great deal of physical effort is required to turn large and heavy vehicles and to operate the additional controls and two braking systems. Making couplings between vehicle and towed equipment requires moderate physical effort in that heavy chains bars hooks etc. Must be lifted and properly secured. Moderate physical effort is required in the occasional handling of objects weighing up to 40 pounds while loading and unloading cargo.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions while loading and unloading vehicles. Drives in all types of weather and traffic and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents from the vehicle jackknifing. Is subject to cuts bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid state commercial driver s license CDL with a class A endorsement of tractor trailors semi-trailors or combination vehicles.Must possess a H endorsement on their CDL which permits them to transport hazardous materials HazMAtMust meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass a pre employment drug screening.TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Associate must receive HazMat training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity command
