Summary About the Position: Works as a motor vehicle operator within the Supply and Services Division, Directorate of Training Sustainment (DOTS). Responsibilities Operate gasoline or diesel-powered cargo vehicles to transport personnel, cargo, ammunition, explosives, fuel and petroleum products, and/or special weapons and their components. Perform actions required to obtain a dispatch and perform driver maintenance on assigned vehicle. Properly load vehicles and trailers so that the weight of the material is evenly distributed to prevent swaying. Operate forklifts to move loads to and from trucks. Handle cargo, fuel, and ammunitions for movement and in loading and unloading carriers. May require working at heights. There is frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of weights up to 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Individual works in motor pools, ammunition supply points, fuel points, ranges and training areas, and enclosed cab of vehicle. There is exposure to all types of weather conditions and all types of traffic where there is a possibility of serious accident. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accident or when loading and unloading vehicles. Work assignments involve a thorough knowledge of hazardous material handling, and related activities. Individual is required to successfully complete a variety of hazardous material and/or environmental classes. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes from spills and/or leaks and individual may be required to wear protective clothing (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.).
