Summary About the Position: Works as a motor vehicle operator within the Supply and Services Division, Directorate of Training Sustainment (DOTS). Responsibilities Operate gasoline or diesel-powered cargo vehicles to transport personnel, cargo, ammunition, explosives, fuel and petroleum products, and/or special weapons and their components. Perform actions required to obtain a dispatch and perform driver maintenance on assigned vehicle. Properly load vehicles and trailers so that the weight of the material is evenly distributed to prevent swaying. Operate forklifts to move loads to and from trucks. Handle cargo, fuel, and ammunitions for movement and in loading and unloading carriers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator (Ammunition/Fork Lift Operator)~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common operation of gasoline or diesel powered cargo vehicles. I can operate tractor and semi-trailer units, to transport cargo. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. This position requires the employee to possess and maintain the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) "A" with airbrakes and HAZMAT endorsement. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires reaching, bending, turning, pulling, standing and walking. May require working at heights. There is frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting of weights up to 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Individual works in motor pools, ammunition supply points, fuel points, ranges and training areas, and enclosed cab of vehicle. There is exposure to all types of weather conditions and all types of traffic where there is a possibility of serious accident. The operator is subject to cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accident or when loading and unloading vehicles. Work assignments involve a thorough knowledge of hazardous material handling, and related activities. Individual is required to successfully complete a variety of hazardous material and/or environmental classes. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes from spills and/or leaks and individual may be required to wear protective clothing (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.). Education Additional Information The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
