Motor Vehicle Operator (Material Handler) Leader

About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Letterkenny Munitions Center. This position serves as a working leader over three or more employees in the performance of full range of motor vehicle operations, material handling, wide range of packaging and re-warehousing of hazardous materials. Responsibilities Ensures that needed documentation, drawings, equipment and tools are available for use. Possess forklift licenses (4K up to50K). Prioritizes work and selects best procedure to complete work assignment in a timely manner. Reports to supervisor(s) damages or deterioration of stock, incorrect storage practices safety issues. Must be able to operate in the operation of a variety of vehicles and support units with up to 30-ton capacity. Checks for completion of trip tickets and reports equipment failure for repair purposes. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Lead or Supervise, to complete the duties of a Motor Vehicle Operator (Material Handler) Leader without more than normal supervision. I have experience reviewing work assignments in progress and upon completion. I have operated vehicles and support units with up to a 30-ton capacity, operate material handling equipment capable of lifting up to 50,000 pounds, and package items to ensure proper shipping. I also have experience ensuring a work crew accomplishes these assigned tasks in accordance with safety and security procedures. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) and Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Lead or Supervise Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Efforts: Work is generally performed on hard surfaces, uneven ground surfaces, and in areas that require the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, climb, use excessive arm movement, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequent lifting and carrying of parts, equipment, and packed containers weighing up to 70 pounds is required. May occasionally lift heavier items with assistance. Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the job and work area where assigned, as directed by the supervisor. The types of protective clothing and equipment include, but area limited to eye, respiratory, foot protection, and protective clothing (gloves, apron, coveralls, etc.). During forklift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside shop areas or in partly enclosed areas that are sometimes uncomfortably warm, cool, damp, or drafty; and outside in all kinds of weather. Works in near zero temperatures, with almost constant wind and snow, also is subject to discomfort from heat, high-velocity dry winds, ticks, snakes, etc. May perform work around protruding nail heads, steel banding, broken carrier floors, etc. Frequently exposed to loud noises such as those from power saws, hammers, and nailing machines. Exposed to nose and lung irritations from sawdust, chemically treated pallets and boxes plus particles, nails, staples, and fasteners; to splinters from handling unfinished wood, and subject to cuts, scratches, and bruises from loading or unloading vehicles. Is also required to work on concrete floors and in areas where there is unpleasant dust, dirt, fumes and noise. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Logistics Career Field position.
