Motorsports Lead NASCAR Engineer - Applied Vehicle Dynamics
Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

To strengthen our racing team, we are seeking a NASCAR Lead Engineer for our Applied Vehicle Dynamics group. This role involves leading a team of dedicated NASCAR simulation engineers, facilitating team feedback to GM simulation development entities, aiding in the development and refinement of vehicle modeling inputs, and helping to develop baseline simulation settings for on-track events. You will collaborate with GM engineers in the race teams to provide implementation assistance, support tool use, apply standard methodologies, and ensure clear feedback to development teams. All projects must be delivered to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have experience as part of a simulation and software development team using Dymola and Modelica, deploying models via the FMI standard, and a passion for using highly accurate and numerically efficient models.

What You’ll Do

Play a key role as a simulation support engineer for NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, and Truck series racing teams

Lead embedded NASCAR support engineers to extract the most performance from our tools and feedback to development

Provide race teams expert knowledge in the simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices

Represent racing team needs as a stakeholder in the simulation toolchain development process

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study

5+ years of professional motorsport experience

Agile development process experience

Knowledge of using Dymola/Modelica in a simulation toolchain

Highly analytical, client-oriented, and structured, with excellent collaboration and mentorship skills

Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, ever-changing environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrity

NASCAR experience within a race team setting

Knowledge of using Dymola/Modelica in a simulation toolchain
