**Description:**
**POSITION PURPOSE**
+ The President & Executive Director, MCHS Foundation creates, directs and manages philanthropy programs and activities of the Mount Carmel Health System Foundation for the purpose of maximizing charitable support to the Mount Carmel Health System.
+ This role prepares strategic and operational philanthropy objectives, strategies and plans for approval by the Board of Trustees and upon approval, is responsible for their implementation.
+ Serves as a trustee for the Mount Carmel Health System Foundation and directs all solicitation for gifts, grants and contributions for Mount Carmel Health System.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
+ Formulates short- and long-range philanthropy strategies, programs and activities and directs the implementation of a comprehensive philanthropy program to meet the needs of Mount Carmel Health System. Specifically, this includes major gifts, planned gifts, grants, annual giving, donor relations, marketing communications, campaign assessment/management, internal colleague giving and Foundation operations.
+ Partners with the Mount Carmel Foundation Board Chair and Committee Chairs to develop and achieve targeted strategic and operational Board plans. Current standing Board committees include Executive Committee, Nominating/Governance Committee, Finance Committee, Allocations/Program Funding Committee and Eliminate Racism Committee. Based on business needs, the Foundation Board Chair, in consultation with the President, will periodically convene ad-hoc Board committees to address time sensitive opportunities and challenges.
+ Provides direct support to the Foundation Board of Trustees and other volunteers in all phases of philanthropy including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
+ Personally raises a minimum of $1 million in major, planned gifts and grants annually.
+ Directs the work of the Foundation in achieving annual goals for all areas of development, including grants, annual giving, planned giving and major gifts.
+ Evaluates effectiveness of fund-raising activities and recommends changes and/or takes corrective action when appropriate to achieve fund raising objectives. Recommends new philanthropy strategies, programs and activities.
+ Develops policies and procedures for the Foundation’s activities and recommends to the Board of Trustees and Mount Carmel Health System leadership for approval as appropriate.
+ Maintains regular contact with current and potential prospects, both internally and externally.
+ Oversees the development of philanthropy promotional and solicitation materials, aswell as gift recognition activities.
+ Serves as a member of the Mount Carmel Executive Leadership Council. Provides direct philanthropy counsel and support to the Mount Carmel Health System.
+ Provides administrative supervision and direction to Foundation Colleagues in achieving goals and objectives of the Foundation.
+ Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning philanthropy practices.
+ Oversees the management of the Mount Carmel Health System retail shops.
+ Increases knowledge and skills through appropriate on the job training, conferences, references and/or workshops.
+ Oversees management of Mount Carmel Health System Volunteer Services program.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field required. Master's degree, or equivalent, in related field preferred.
+ Status as a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) or Association for Health Care Philanthropy (FAHP) certification is preferred.
+ Minimum of ten (10) years' successful experience in fund raising: significant experience in major and planned gifts is required.
+ Previous healthcare fund raising experience preferred.
+ Experience in management of personnel, board members, volunteers and fund-raising activities, including capital campaigns, annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, special events and Board development is required
+ Record of accomplishment in major and planned gifts; record should include asking for and obtaining major gifts of at least $1,000,000.
+ Knowledge of regulatory laws governing not-for-profit entities and implications of such on fund raising and planned giving activities.
+ Extensive knowledge of planned giving instruments, charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, pooled income contracts, life insurance trusts, etc.
+ Proven track record of accomplishments in a complex organization.
+ Extensive experience working with fundraising databases (such as Blackbaud CRM, Raisers Edge) and full set of Microsoft Office Suite applications
+ Maintains knowledge of trends and new techniques within the healthcare development field.
**PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS**
+ Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities.
+ Must be able to travel as needed to the various Trinity Health sites.
