Moynihan Professor/Associate Professor in Public Policy
The Maxwell School at Syracuse University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Chair in Public Policy. Focused on domestic public policy, the ideal candidate will have an exceptional record of scholarship in both academic economics and public policy outlets and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising, including doctoral dissertation supervision. We welcome applicants who have achieved the rank of Professor or would qualify for that rank at Syracuse University within one to two years from the date of hire. The position will be held jointly between the Department of Economics and the Department of Public Administration and International Affairs. We seek a candidate who will contribute intellectual and programmatic leadership in a thriving school of citizenship and public affairs. We are especially interested in scholars who study public economics, urban economics, urban policy, labor economics, and state and local public finance. Topically, we are interested in scholars who research the effects of place-based policies, social policy including education policy, housing policy, antipoverty policy, transportation and/or income maintenance. Other areas of domestic policy and economics will also be considered. The Economics Department and the Public Administration and International Affairs Department are housed within the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, which is committed to citizenship education at the undergraduate level and to graduate education in public affairs and the social sciences. We seek candidates who complement the broader Maxwell mission and have interdisciplinary interests. Successful candidates may be invited to affiliate with one of Maxwell’s other interdisciplinary centers (http://www.maxwell.syr.edu/centers/). The successful candidate will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
