MRI and Xray Technologist

Job Description:

The MRI technologist is responsible for compassionate and appropriate patient care while performing MRI examinations under the direction of a physician to assist in the medical diagnosis or treatment of injury.

Scope

As an Imaging Tech II MRI / Diagnostic Radiology you need to know how to:

Position will include work in the MRI department as well as Diagnostic RadiologyAccess, manage and update patient medical records through Hospital Electronic Medical Record Information SystemAccurately access patient medical recordsInput physicians orders appropriately to patients recordsReview documentation for ongoing patient care- Communicate patient record with ancillary hospital servicesMaintain patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelinesPractice core competencies according to the ARRT Standards of EthicsEducate, interview, screen and explain imaging and safety procedures to patients regarding the biological effects of radiation and/or magnetic field protection and safety prior to beginning any imaging procedure to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperationPosition patient on imaging table and utilize immobilization devices as warranted for safety or to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body as requested by a Physician and following protocols developed by a RadiologistAdminister contrast media orally or in intravenous administration according to Radiologist and/or Pharmacy guidelinesMonitor patient during procedures either through direct contact, by the use of two-way voice communication or through control room window and/or closed circuit TV screenPractice universal safety precautions, radiation protection techniques and magnetic field education to minimize exposure to patient, self and staff


Qualifications - Non-Certified

Associate's degree (A. A.) or diploma from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training, requiredCurrent ARRT certification, requiredCurrent Montana State Licensure, requiredCurrent BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, requiredMRI experience, required as well as an additional certification such as CT, requiredMinimum of two (2) years of Diagnostic Radiology experience, requiredKnowledgeable in MRI and Radiology procedures, required

Qualifications - Certified

Associate's degree or diploma from two-year College or technical school; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training, requiredCurrent ARRT certification, requiredCurrent Montana State Licensure or eligibility to obtain, requiredCurrent BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, requiredAdditional certification, required within 18 months of hire

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$33.49 - $53.91
