MRI Clinical Assistant Full-Time Overnight

The MRI Clinical Assistant II will be responsible for providing coordination of patient care services while providing support for the MRI technologists. Job duties will include greeting patients in registration area and providing escort to the MRI changing area. Aid in preparing the patient for the exam specific MRI exam.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Excels in effective and positive communications. Uses skills to bolster the organization/
department image
+ Reviews the daily MRI schedule. Greet the patient in the registration area at their scheduled appointment time. Introduces themselves to the patient, correctly identifies the patient verbally by addressing them as Mr. or Mrs. Notification of the patient’s arrival is immediately communicated to the technologist. Patient is informed if there will be a delay in their exam start
+ Provide escort for the patient to the MRI changing area. Assists the technologists, nursing staff or Radiologist in preparing the patient for their exam
+ Accurately adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available, resulting in excellent continuity of care for patients
+ Completes clerical functions including copying and faxing. Makes effective use of telephone, fax and electronic mail systems
+ Supply management duties are performed in accordance with the department budget and predetermined par levels. This would include inventory control, reorder, and stocking of the patient care areas
+ Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of the EMR/PACS appropriate to their job responsibilities
+ Demonstrates proper telephone techniques and etiquette in accordance with the department and hospital guidelines as it relates to answering phones, directing calls, and taking complete and accurate messages
+ Completes yearly required competency assessment as set by the department and the hospital
+ Accountable for quality of digital images sent to PACS. Verify correct patient is selected from worklist, ensures accuracy of Medical Record information prior to being sent to PACS
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand or walk for up to 7 hours per day in 60-minute increments. Sitting for up to 1 hour per day in 15-minute increments. Must be able to walk on level surfaces or carpeted surfaces for up to 10 minutes consecutively. Must have the ability to lift/move objects up to 40 pounds, push/pull patients weighing up to 400 pounds. Must have the ability to occasionally stoop/bend, crouch, kneel and reach above shoulder level. Must have the ability to hear as it relates to normal conversation and the ability to hear call bells. Must be capable of seeing as it relates to general vision, depth perception and peripheral vision. Manual dexterity in order to type on a keyboard for up to 5 minutes at a time. Frequent use of hands/fingers for data entry and charting information.
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate or equivalent required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
General computer skills and medical terminology necessary. Minimum 1-year hospital experience preferred but not necessary. Excellent customer relation and communication skills necessary. Current CPR certification required.
