The MRSO must have an enhanced knowledge in the area of MRI expertise and skills that are required for maintaining a safe MRI environment daily. The care and safety of patients, families, co-workers, employees and the general public to include but not limited to ambulance personnel, fireman, service engineers and physicians, both physical and mental, by proper use of MRI equipment and professional behavior. This is a crucial and challenging responsibility in order to oversee the safety of the MRI environment.

Responsibilities Uses I Care principles to ensure proper patient identification, correct exam, and to improve patient communication and engagement.To be reasonably accessible and available (e.g, to the operators of the MRI system) .Ensuring that proper policies and procedures for day-to-day MRI safety are enforced.Developing, documenting, and introducing, in conjunction with and under the authority of the MRI MD, safe working procedures for the MRI environment.Ensuring that adequate written safety procedures, work instructions, emergency procedures, and operating instructions are issued to all concerned after full consultation with the MRI MD.Ensuring that appropriate measures for minimizing risks to health that arise from the use of or exposure to the MRI equipment, as per the direction of the MRI MD, are implemented and monitored.Managing hazards posed by the MRI equipment, and monitoring the measures taken to protect against such hazards.Ensuring that all Heads of Departments and senior medical staff members who are responsible for personnel who will be involved with the MRI system are informed of the formal procedures for training and authorization.Ensuring that medical, technical, nursing, and all other relevant staff groups (including ancillary workers) who may be exposed to the MRI environment are educated appropriately on a regular basis as to the safety requirements and updated as necessary.Maintaining records of the personnel who have been educated appropriately as to the safety requirements. Fulfills education requirements as established by ARRT, JCAHO and DCH Health System.Consulting the MRI MD when further advice is required regarding MRI safety.Reporting back to the MRI MD in a timely fashion any and all MRI safety-related issue.Ensuring that there is a clear policy for the purchasing, testing, training and marking of all equipment that will be taken into the MRI-related critical areas.Providing and/or ensuring the provision of MRI safety education and training in cooperating with, and as per the policies of the MRI MD.Providing safety advice regarding the selection, procurement, and installation of MRI-related equipment (in consultation with the MRI MD, if/as needed)Providing safety advice on the modification of MRI protocols (in consultation with the MRI MD, if/as needed)

Fulfills education requirements for assigned position including DCH Health System and Imaging required CBT’s, in-services, meetings and educational sessions. Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet. Responds timely to all forms of communicationMust adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Provides assistance for patients and their families in the department and during transport as appropriate.Takes responsibility for care, cleaning and maintenance of transport equipment used in transport of patients. Takes responsibility for supplies used in the transport of patients: i.e. O2 cylinders, warm blankets, etc.Must be efficient in the use of imaging equipment in the area of expertise, office equipment and related material essential to good patient care, imaging exams and Synapse.Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English. Must fulfill the graduation and registration requirements as follows:  MRI (MR) – ARRT MRI registered.
