The MRI Department is seeking a MRI Technologist to join their team of devoted caregivers; where you will work together to support the Cleveland Clinic’s vision by putting patients’ first and providing world class care. Within this role, you’ll perform MRI exams on patients of all ages. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to: 
• Preparing and validating the patient screening safety form.  
• Educating patients regarding MRI procedures while ensuring patients’ comfort and safety during and after the exam.  
• Maintaining equipment and reporting any current or possible malfunctions with equipment immediately.  


The ideal future caregiver is someone who: 
• Has strong communication skills and can multitask in a stressful situation.  
• Is currently a Registered Technologist credentialed by the ARRT and has a Basic Life Support certification. 
• Works well in a close-knit, teambuilding environment.  
• Has knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes. 
• Can provide empathy and compassion in a patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities:

Performs MRI scans as prescribed by physicians.Interviews patients to obtain needed information and provides education to the patient about their scan.Maintains constant patient contact during scan and responds accordingly to patient reactions such as claustrophobic reactions.Provides MRI information to patients, families, physicians and other appropriate people.Assists in developing new techniques and procedures relating to MRI.Schedules procedures to ensure proper time allotment.Conducts facility tours and demonstrates equipment for visitors.Remains abreast of current developments by attending related seminars and reviewing current literature.Assists in other areas of Radiology, if needed, if there is no other work in the MRI section.Complies with all Radiology Information System entry (including PACS) requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors.Ensures the safety of everyone in the MRI area through limited access, screening, and proper bloodborne pathogen precautions.Under the direction of the Radiologist, injects contrast material by intravenous puncture or established intravenous.Assists and supports the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect. Provides supervision and feedback to students as they perform procedures. Reviews images with students on request and provides quarterly evaluations of students to clinical instructions for formal reviews.Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.Other duties as assigned


Education:

Successful completion of approved School of Radiology Technology program.


Certifications:

Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.Certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 24 months of appointment.BLS - Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.


Complexity of Work:

Maintains competencies specific to patient population served.


Work Experience:

Three years of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred.One year experience in computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging preferred.Current knowledge of Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques and parameters.


Physical Requirements:

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.Requires frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 75 pounds.


Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
