PRN MRI Technologist

Magnetic resonance imaging technologists, also referred to as MRI technologists, utilize magnetic resonance imaging scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. MRI technologists must be able to closely follow a physician's instructions, prepare and operate MRI equipment, position patients correctly, and effectively record the requested diagnostic images.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Prepare and check patients prior to MRI procedure.
Acquire and review patient questionnaire, chart and data/requisition to determine contraindication of having MRI examination.
Verify and validate the patient screening safety form.
Perform MRI procedures required per protocol and perform daily QA.
Perform venipunctures.
Educate patients regarding MRI procedures, equipment and exams.
Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
Assist with scheduling patients.
Administer proper contrast related to patient having MRI exam.
Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
Immediately report any malfunctions, observe potential equipment dysfunctions and report problems or call for service.
Maintain available equipment up-time at the highest level for patient accessibility.
Process billing via RIS.
Potentially rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or graduate of an accredited institution per the primary pathway of the ARRT.
Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), or R.T.(S)(ARRT), or R.T.(T)(ARRT), in good standing.
OR Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(N) (ARRT) in good standing or be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board. ARDMS and NMTCB are primary pathways.
Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging: R.T.(MR)(ARRT) required within one year of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and related pathologic processes.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist or experience in other imaging modalities.

Physical Requirements:
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.Requires frequent pushing and pulling of equipment up to 75 pounds.Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
