MRI Technologist – Mercy Lorain Hospital

Job Summary:

The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and works closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians.

Essential Functions: 

Knowledge in workflows, procedures, operation, and processes of the MRI imaging modalities.Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.Confirms the quality and accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural data.Selects proper MRI pulse sequences and scan parameters according to established protocols.Contributes to the training and education of new staff and assists in oversight of MRI students.Provides direct patient care and instructions before, during, and after procedure.Performs IV injections and administers magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure.Troubleshoots equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and reports malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor.

Education:

Associate's from an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) accredited institute (preferred)  


Licensure/Certification:

Certification and Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)ARRCertification of Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (required, or must within one year of hire)Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to direct patient care)

Experience:

1 year of experience in MRI department in hospital setting (preferred)EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred)
