Group Details
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Microsoft SQL Server Database Architect to evaluate and enhance our existing database schema & code. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database design, performance tuning, and optimization. While SQL Server will be the primary focus, the candidate should also assist with NoSQL database systems like Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and others. This role will focus on improving efficiency, addressing performance issues, and ensuring reliable, high-performance systems.
Job Responsibilities
Analyze the existing SQL Server and NoSQL database schema, configurations, and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies Review and assess SQL Server queries, indexing and storage. Identify key performance issues and areas of inefficiency within the database environment. Recommend and implement database optimization strategies such as query tuning, index optimization, and database partitioning. Work closely with both development & database administration teams to identify and improve slow-running queries or inefficient code. Design and implement scalable database solutions that support business growth. Work with stakeholders to align database architecture with business goals and requirements. Document database performance improvements, configurations, and any changes made to the database environment. Provide detailed reports and recommendations on database performance, design improvements, and architectural changes.Qualifications
Proven experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Architect or a similar role on a high-volume, OLTP system. Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2019 and above), including advanced query optimization and indexing strategies. Deep understanding of SQL Server performance tuning, query analysis, and optimization techniques. Familiarity with cloud-based database environments (e.g. AWS RDS such as Amazon Aurora). Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, MongoDB) and their integration with SQL Server environments. Ability to assess, design, and implement database solutions that meet scalability, security, and performance needs. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues. Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Preferred Skills
Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., Solarwinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA)). Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing (e.g. Snowflake)Additional Information

The amount of pay offered will be determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, market data, geographic location, and internal guidelines.
