eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 2, Software Engineer in New York, NY

Job Duties: Analyze large codebases with minimal help, identify areas of improvement, propose solutions with buy-in from partners, and deliver results.   Demonstrate expertise in technical/product design and service interaction patterns that can span multiple functional areas.  Ensure the software created in domain meets industry standards.  Demonstrate technical mastery such as anticipating future challenges (such as scalability and functional evolution) and foresee these in software designs to avoid rework.  Keep pace with the evolution of technology inside and outside of the company and apply new technology to solve problems where applicable.  Balance technical tradeoffs with time to market or staffing challenges. Improve team productivity by identifying and evangelizing opportunities for productivity improvements.  Utilize intimate knowledge of business goals and be responsible for metrics associated with the team’s charter.  Mentor other team members through software code reviews, documentation, technical guidance, and pair programming.  Listen, guide, and debate to help reach a consensus across functional teams; once a decision is made, clearly communicate and back that decision.  Influence improvements to adjacent functional areas.  Build performance efficient, highly scalable, configurable, and available software applications and systems. Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software applications. Design, develop, and test high throughput back-end software systems.  Develop object-oriented software and design, code, and test complex software features. Develop software code and lead code review sessions. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time critical environment. Identify and make recommendations to reduce software project risks.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Salary: $179,982.00-234,850.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
