**THE POSITION**
As part of the continued growth of our Investment Strategy & Solutions group, we are seeking to recruit a Multi Asset Portfolio Manager for the APAC region, based in Singapore. This individual will, within our team-based process, help to manage our APAC client portfolios. They will also engage with clients on existing mandates, and engage with prospects and consultants to grow and expand our Multi Asset Solutions business in the region. The individual is likely to be involved in the following areas:
**1. Managing the APAC multi-asset portfolios within our team-based process**
- Act as a fiduciary by ensuring the solution designs are appropriate, based on an understanding of the client objectives and constraints, with the goal of exceeding client performance expectations;
- Help to run a diverse set of client mandates (as part of a team based approach), pooled funds, and other investment solutions across different channels and regions;
- Participate in the team’s investment processes, and ensure that investment decisions are applied appropriately across the respective portfolios.
**2. Contributing to the commercial success of the Multi Asset Solutions business in APAC**
- Grow the brand and size of the Wellington Multi Asset Solutions business, with a focus on Multi Asset in Asia;
- Contribute to the design and management of multi-asset solutions (as part of the team’s process) to meet client needs;
- Work with relevant colleagues in the Client Group and our Product team to seek out, pursue and win multi asset mandates.
**3. Research processes**
- Work with the team to develop differentiated and innovative research on asset allocation, capital market and investment topics, with a focus on portfolio implications;
- Use, where possible, this research to generate external solution discussions and opportunities;
- Engage in the internal debate on tactical and strategic investment views, and respective portfolio positioning.
**4. Engaging with clients and prospects as a thought partner**
**-** Engage and build trust with strategic clients across different channels in APAC (e.g. Pensions, Insurance, Global Wealth, and Sovereign);
- Develop peer-like relationships with clients by listening and gaining a deep understanding of their investment needs;
- Represent the Investment Strategy & Solutions group’s analytical and investment capabilities to clients, and deliver the best of Wellington research/thinking.
**REQUIREMENTS**
To be effective in the role, the successful candidate is likely to demonstrate some or all of the following skills/attributes:
- Strong academic background;
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in multi-asset portfolio construction, portfolio research or portfolio management;
- Demonstrable experience of tactical and strategic asset allocation, manager selection experience, and experience of constructing portfolios based on these processes;
- Broad understanding of global investment markets, and an ability to discuss technical topics in concise terms
- Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm to help build an APAC business;
- Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively within a global team-based approach to multi asset investing, and to partner with other global colleagues, including client relationship teams and other investment professionals;
- Ability to build trust with clients that can lead to deeper relationships with Wellington;
- Creative/flexible thinking to solve client problems;
- Ability to be self-sufficient in generating research ideas and content;
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills are essential. An ability to code in python (or willingness to learn) would be a positive;
- Engaging communicator, able to connect with clients across channels, regions, and audiences (including CIOs) with credibility;
- Intellectual curiosity;
- Resilience, with a high degree of self-motivation and a growth mindset;
