The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
**This role can work within commuting distance to any of our Corning facilities in the US.**
**Scope & Purpose of Position:**
Reporting to the Global Multi-Cloud Engineering Leader, the Multi-Cloud Engineer plays a critical role in driving Corning’s cloud transformation initiatives. This role collaborates across IT Architecture, Engineering, Operations, Security, Strategic Partners, Technology Vendors, and Project Management teams to enable the successful delivery of complex IT priorities.
The Multi-Cloud Engineer will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in cloud technologies, focusing on rapid adoption of new cloud services, cloud engineering, and automation. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and private cloud solutions, with a strong emphasis on Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Cloud Solution Engineering & Automation:
+ Design, develop, and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performance cloud-based solutions.
+ Automate and maintain multi-cloud platforms using cloud-native technologies and best practices.
+ Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless software deployment.
+ Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Kubernetes:
+ Maintain and enhance IaC-based cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, and private cloud environments using Terraform.
+ Design and implement Kubernetes workload infrastructure and cloud-native applications.
+ Production Engineering & DevOps:
+ Deliver production engineering solutions using Agile methodologies.
+ Support the CI/CD pipeline to promote software across environments while maintaining operational integrity.
+ Lead DevOps automation efforts and enforce best practices.
+ Security & Compliance:
+ Ensure cloud solutions adhere to governance, security, and compliance standards.
+ Collaborate with Solutions Architects, Developers, and Security teams to deploy applications securely.
+ Monitoring & Performance Optimization:
+ Implement and maintain monitoring and dashboard tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Zabbix.
+ Proactively monitor system health, performance, and security metrics, ensuring high availability and minimizing downtime.
+ Act as an escalation point for critical outages and provide incident response and resolution.
+ Collaboration & Leadership:
+ Work cross-functionally with Network, Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams to resolve complex technical issues.
+ Foster a culture of automation, efficiency, and continuous learning.
+ Assist in work prioritization for both cloud engineering and operations support teams.
**Required Education & Experience**
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Work Experience:
+ 7+ years of experience in IT, with expertise in cloud engineering, automation, and DevOps.
+ Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure.
+ Strong background in Linux systems administration and scripting.
+ Experience with CI/CD automation, version control systems (GitLab), and Terraform.
+ Solid understanding of networking, security principles, and cloud governance.

+ AWS or Azure (required)

+ Terraform (IaC)
+ Kubernetes - Strong DevOps-focused experience
+ Configuration Management – Ansible, Cloud-init
Monitoring & Performance Management:
+ Grafana, Prometheus, Zabbix (or equivalent tools for observability and system monitoring)
Development & Scripting:
+ Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript, Linux Shell scripting
+ Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
+ APIs & Integration: REST, SOAP
DevOps & Agile Tooling:
+ CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, Git, GitLab, Artifactory, Vault
+ Project Management & Collaboration: Jira, Confluence
**Desired Skills & Certifications**
+ AWS or Azure Certification (preferred)
+ Experience with MS SQL, PostgreSQL
+ Holistic understanding of IT infrastructure (server, storage, networking, disaster recovery, business continuity)
+ VMware vCloud Suite (preferred)
+ Terraform Certificate (preferred)
+ ServiceNow - Automation and API integrations
**Travel Requirement**
+ Up to 10% (domestic and international)

The range for this position is $119,484.00 - $164,291.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
