Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician
Lynchburg, VA
We are looking for highly skilled individuals who can troubleshoot and perform maintenance on facilities and automation equipment and who have a thorough understanding of safe work practices. These positions create value for the facility by performing preventative and corrective maintenance leading to increased uptime and reliability, thus helping the facility to meet their safety, production, and quality goals.
This facility utilizes multiple pieces of packaging automation, conveyance equipment, and sorters. We receive, package, and ship products for J. Crew, Madewell, and Factory in the most efficient means possible. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible to make sound judgment on repairs and ensuring precision installation on all tasks.
We have multiple levels of maintenance technician roles available. Placement will be determined by experience, skills, and knowledge:
Maintenance Tech I
Possesses the experience, skills, and knowledge to successfully identify, operate, troubleshoot, and repair at a basic to middle skill level. This technician will bring a basic to middle level of transferable skills in mechanical, electrical, industrial equipment, and automation troubleshooting and repair. Examples of level I interventions include but are not limited to: All examples and expectations listed for ELT technicians, along with Weekly/monthly/Quarterly lubrication and preventative maintenance assignments, mechanical rotating equipment removal, replacement, and alignment, troubleshooting equipment and facility sounds, temperatures, smells, and use of condition monitoring tools. Using multimeter to check for voltage, amps, and resistance in circuits 120VAC and below. Standard exchange replacement of fuses, drive belts, filters, worn chains, belting and lacing, slide rails, and rolls. Use of measuring tools, collection of technical parameters, reading schematics, drawings, and blueprints, and assisting other technicians with equipment PMs and trouble calls.
What You Will Do in Your Role
Depending upon your specific role as described above, skills and knowledge you may participate in the following:
· Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures
· Report to work as scheduled for the entire shift assigned
· Complete all necessary safety and maintenance training on time
· Helping to meet or exceed production, waste, and quality goals through a quality maintenance program
· Installing and repairing mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gears, belts, and couplings
· Perform all maintenance checks and preventive maintenance in a safe and timely manner
· Log activities into CMMS with detail completion comments and write follow up work orders
· Perform basic fabrication with metal, wood, and plastics
· Set up new equipment by specifications
· Learn and execute 6s strategies throughout the facility
· Upload/download and research online the necessary software, maintenance and operation manual for equipment pertaining to the business to aid in performing tasks
· Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to 10 hours/day in high-volume environment
· Supporting our safe working environment by maintaining strict adherence to safety rules and regulations and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
· Willing to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
· Troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical problems and repairing and maintaining all equipment in accordance with plant policies and procedures
· Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics
· Completing mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance activities
· Troubleshooting and repairing automated systems with and without remote technical support
· Ability to work independently or in team as assigned
· Quality conscious and detail oriented
· Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
· Flexibility - will be required to perform other work duties, overtime and extended hours as needed
What Will Put You Ahead?
· Valid Driver’s License
· High School Diploma or GED
· Electrical Certification, technical schooling earned or other related educational certifications/degrees
· A high level of transferable skills in electrical, mechanical, controls, and automation
· Experience troubleshooting bearings, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, conveyors, and electrical/mechanical equipment
· Experience working in the Distribution and Packaging industry
· Experience working with AC/DC low and high voltage electrical systems & pneumatic systems
· At least three years of maintenance experience within an industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or military environment
· Experience reading technical drawings and schematics
· Experience performing preventative maintenance and identifying predictive maintenance of equipment
Work Schedule:
· 2nd shift Full-time
· Tuesday-Friday 2pm-12am
· Overtime as needed

Physical Requirements:
Lift, carry, push, pull, reach, grasp, bend, and stoop for up to 10 hours at a time. Ability to work at heights (overhead conveyors, outbound trash line, sorter, etc.) by climbing stairs or ladder or use of scissor lift. Ability to work on all equipment throughout the facility – which will require the ability to bend, stoop, crawl, reach, work from knees or back to access equipment. Good hand/eye coordination. Ability to work in confined areas. Ability to work around moving machinery/equipment. Stand for duration of work shift and walk/move continuously. Adjust to climate changes; hot and cold extremes may occur in warehouse. Lift up to 60 pounds or more; some work duties require overhead lifting
