Hours of work:     12 Hour Day shifts, working 6am – 6pm:

Week 1 = Working Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, Sat (Wed & Thu off)

Week 2 = Working Wed & Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun off)

The job role:


Joining our experienced team at our Herreschoff Kiln plant you’ll be responsible for leading a small team and taking ownership of the site maintenance day to day; maximising plant and equipment availability.


Our Herreschoff Kiln site produces soft calcined kaolin which is produced using continuous multiple hearth calciner technology. This site produces two products - Polestar 200P and Polestar 200R serving high value Pharmaceutical Rubber, Polymers, Paints and Plastic Markets/


As a Multi-skilled Engineering Chargehand the main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Carry out routine preventive, corrective & breakdown maintenanceFault finding, diagnostic and installation workCalibrate and diagnose faults on instrumentation systemsCarry out Risk assessments and ensure all work areas are clean and free from hazardsOrdering site spares Working from height and in confined spaces.


The site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; once fully competent, you will be required to join a rota system to provide out-of-hours support.

You will:


Have a background from within a production/ heavy industrial environment with mechanical and electrical experience of fixed processing plant and equipment. Experience of working with/ on pumps, welding, mills, burners/furnaces/gas, intrusive chemical work and centrifuges is essential.


In addition, you’ll:


Have an apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical engineering (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)Have a strong HSE ethosBe proficient in the use of ITBe able to work without supervision, organise and prioritise tasks Legally be able to drive in the UK
