Multi-Skilled Experienced Electrician:

JOB SUMMARY:

Conducts, designs, installs, maintains, tests, adjusts, and repairs mechanical/electrical components throughout the plant and warehouses in a timely fashion to ensure that production is minimally impacted. Applies knowledge of mechanical/electrical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.

WORK DEVICES: 

Hand tools, wrenches, sharpeners, drills, arbor press parts, man lifts, lock outs, power tools, multi-meters, oscilloscope, amp meters, personal computers, soldering iron, megger, chart recorder.

 

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly work environment; Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner. Actively engage, being involved, and current in the SWO process. Participate in safety meetings and on safety tours. Ensure production, warehousing, and distribution of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation, and quality standards. Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical/electrical equipment. Advise operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with mechanical/electrical equipment and components. Make necessary measurements, estimate materials required, and requisition supplies as needed through the shift supervisor/manager. Install, test, adjust, and repair all mechanical/electrical systems and equipment in the plant and warehouses. Plan and lay out new installations. Perform preventive maintenance functions; Lubricate assigned mechanical/electrical equipment at specified intervals. Make necessary measurements, estimate materials required, and requisition supplies as needed through the shift supervisor/manager. Maintain checklists, lubrication lists on other related records as required (PM’s). Use SAP to enter the length of repair time, repair history, and to look up parts information. Operate man lifts (i.e., boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.). Perform root cause analysis when problems arise to determine if actions can be taken immediately or appropriate personnel need to be called. Inform appropriate management and line mechanics of potential mechanical/electrical problems and inherent dangers involved. Inform Maintenance Manager, Superintendent, Supervisor, or Group Leader of any problems that arise that are beyond the scope of the maintenance multi-skilled duties. Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment. Maintain 6S, keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly; Maintain work system tools. Follow maintenance schedule and complete necessary reports. Once qualified, instruct and train other multi-skilled employees. Manage workload as necessary to ensure production requirements are met. Communicate with the oncoming shift. Work in high areas and overhead structures, work beneath machines, and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work as needed. Actively participate in daily team production meetings – communicate key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production, and continuous improvement. Fulfill overtime requirements, as necessary. Assist in other areas or perform other duties, as assigned.

 

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

3-5 years of demonstrated maintenance mechanical/electrical experience in an industrial setting. 2-year Maintenance or Mechanical/Electrical Associates Degree preferred. Strong electrical background, required. Successful completion of the skills assessment process at Lake Land. Thorough knowledge of mechanical/electrical components and equipment, including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes. General computer experience. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills; Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel, individually or in a team environment; Must be able to interface and communicate with line operators to assist with repairs and troubleshooting. Demonstrated organizational skills and detail orientation. Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced/multi-tasked manufacturing environment. Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to fluently read, write, and comprehend English. Ability to take direction from others, and to follow verbal or written instructions. Ability to work well on own, as well as work well with and through others to accomplish goals. Ability to work overtime and plant holidays, as scheduled, and to work on alternate shifts to facilitate training and to cover the opposite shift. Ability to complete written and driving examination required to obtain a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) operator license. Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation.  This includes: Sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods, up to 12-hours; Lifting to 50 lbs.; Visual acuity and depth perception necessary to operator equipment, and to read a computer screen or other electronic devices; Working in various temperatures & humidity levels. Ability to provide your own tools not provided by Graphic Packaging International.
