For information about the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, please visit https://www.pdx.edu/liberal-arts-sciences/ Position Summary The Multi-Unit Manager (MUM) manages all aspects of the daily operations of multiple units of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), including supervision of a team of 4-6 staff members.

Work at this level requires comprehensive knowledge of programs and operations, and the ability to interpret and explain laws, rules, policies, and procedures. This position requires the ability to successfully manage individuals and teams that are supporting multiple units in the college in multiple areas in the college. In addition, the MUM will perform administrative research, analysis, and evaluation supporting the units’ services and operations. This position requires the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment and exercise creative problem solving skills while managing direct administrative support to multiple units in the college.

They will interact regularly with CLAS leadership, administrative colleagues, faculty, other MUMs and students. The MUM researches and interprets information and responds to inquiries providing advice and direction. This position will require the ability to come in and access the needs of multiple departments depending on the complexities of the units. Minimum Qualifications Five years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist which included administrative support for a project, program, or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: Carrying out independent duties and working with budgets and spreadsheets. Budgeting, financial management and/or accounting/bookkeeping skills. Supervision of front-line staff and/or students. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) Ability to organize and plan complex tasks that require many steps to complete. Ability to manage deadlines and deal with multiple tasks and priorities. Ability to work with diverse people and maintain a professional, collegial atmosphere. Self-motivated, able to work independently and make decisions that implement plans and procedures which move the department forward. Experience working in higher education.

An equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of postsecondary education may be substituted for up to one year of the experience. Work Days/Hours Monday - Friday: 8pm - 5pm Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be between $58,836 and $65,000.
