Multimedia Specialist II
The Multimedia Specialist will harness their passion for visual storytelling to create engaging and impactful content that resonates with diverse audiences across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Senior Creative Lead for Photography and Video, this role is integral to advancing The Jackson Laboratory's mission and enhancing its visibility as a premier biomedical research institution dedicated to improving human health. The specialist will collaborate with internal and external clients, synthesizing complex scientific topics into compelling media narratives. The role involves managing projects from concept to final delivery, ensuring high-quality content that aligns with institutional branding and communication goals. The specialist must be adept at working within deadlines, managing multiple projects, and traveling as necessary to capture essential media on-location.
Key Responsibilities (What you contribute)
Pitch, research and develop original projects to create engaging content that supports the content strategy while staying on brand and on budget.Partner with colleagues and stakeholders to develop compelling storytelling strategies that align with strategic priorities.Use state-of-the-art hardware, software, and skills to execute work from conceptualization to final delivery, and ensure tools are kept in proper working order.Must be comfortable experimenting with new ideas and different platforms (Canva, Bynder Studio, etc.)Actively engage on-set to independently and collaboratively create professional studio experiences for stakeholders. Adhere to the JAX professional dress code.Take a wide variety of photographs, from impromptu visitor snapshots to journalistic assignments at busy events; Create portraits, environmental and action shots that reveal the personality of the people and places at JAX.Be deadline driven and handle multiple projects at a time.Follow quality and compliance guidelines when capturing media on-location. Periodic travel is required.Use existing digital asset management systems, file structures and production hardware to maintain organized production processes; archives in-process and finalized files with associated metadata.Ensure content meets or exceeds visual, quality, and timeliness requirements. Perform archival research, including sourcing, managing and delivering content to stakeholders.Maintain records of jobs and materials using departmental project management software and contributes to departmental reports.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (What you're good at)
Bachelor’s degree in video/film, photojournalism or a related field and five or more years in a related creative services setting are preferred.Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard photo and video hardware (cameras, lighting, audio capture devices, etc.) and software (particularly the Adobe Creative Cloud — Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) and their application in state-of-the-art digital communications.Knowledge of video and photo editing techniques including motion graphics animation, 2-D digital animation techniques, audio editing, advanced color correction/grading and image retouching. Familiarity with and a curiosity to keep abreast of current video storytelling tools is a must.Demonstrated experience managing multimedia projects in a production environment using numerous distribution channels such as social media, websites, etc.Must be a creative, analytical thinker, with the ability to balance the creative with the technical quickly, accurately and efficiently to produce high-quality work. Willingness to work a flexible work schedule.Ability to translate established marketing strategies into professional media deliverables consistent with the JAX brand.An open mind, excellent oral and written communication skills, a keen listening ability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage relationships with a diverse client base and work as part of an integrated and collaborative team.Thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities with multiple deadlines.Outstanding planning, organization and project management skills.Proficient with Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud and other tools such as CMS, social media management and analytics platforms, etc.Ability to travel as necessary.Please submit a cover letter, resume, and a link to your professional portfolio!
