The Multiplatform Programming Strategy & Content Planning Associate is responsible for inputting, maintaining and communicating the Nat Geo programming schedules and metadata. This includes the accurate creation of linear schedules and maintaining all schedule tracking. The Associate will make recommendations and updates to schedules and content plans, as well as communicate schedules and updates to key internal departments (i.e. Ad Sales, Operations, Business Operations, Marketing, PR, Production, etc.). The Associate must have an understanding of scheduling and have an interest in the factual television landscape.
Responsibilities:
Implementation of the network schedules and program entry in internal scheduling database systems (linear networks and across YouTube channels)
Coordinate and communicate plans with a variety of departments to ensure materials are ready, schedules are correct and that the requisite teams are fully up to date regarding current schedules and content roll-out
Work with Director and Manager of Program Strategy to translate and implement overarching channel strategies into specific scheduling tactics
Maintain knowledge of the networks’ priorities and performance, recommending changes to the schedule to help drive ratings and enrich viewing experience across all platforms
Provide scheduling information and support with our direct-to-consumer partners (Disney+ and Hulu)
Assist in multiplatform duties associated with linear content migrating onto nonlinear platforms (VOD, TV Everywhere, Hulu, YouTube, and MVPD partners’ platforms)
As required, provide support for wider National Geographic team and Programming department including cross training to support other channels and platforms and assisting on ad hoc projects.
Maintain a broad knowledge of the factual television landscape and industry trends, tracking and providing reports and updates on competitor activity
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years relevant work experience in entertainment, media, data analytics, and/or business space with programming/scheduling disciplines preferred
Knowledge of the following systems are a plus: VPS, Tableau, YouTube Studio/Dashboard, Airtable, BeBanjo, Program Scheduling systems
Familiarity with and interest in the National Geographic brand.
Demonstrated technical experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Teams
Must live within a commutable distance to the NY Office. This role requires someone onsite 4 days in-office per week.
Highly organized creative and strategic thinker with a keen attention to detail, excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, prioritize workflow and work well in a fast-paced environment
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in television or related field and equivalent work experience
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $61,500 to $82,300 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.Job Posting Segment:
