We are hiring for a Staff Engineer to join our Van Note-Harvey business and contribute to our water resources & municipal projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Princeton, NJ.
Primary Responsibilities:
Contribute to water resources infrastructure planning projects: design, permitting, inspection & construction administration (including pump stations, distribution, collection & conveyance, storage tanks, and treatment). Develop water resources projects & reports, as well as coordination of infrastructure design with other design disciplines. Demonstrate leadership skills by coordinating projects, as needed. Plan and manage the preparation of construction drawings & specifications. Contribute to the development of proposals / bid documents as well as cost & pay estimates. Interact with municipal officials. Attend project-related meetings (including public meetings). Interact with clients and regulatory agencies, as needed. Perform field visits, as needed. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-oriented discipline (preferably a BS in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering). 4+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with infrastructure / utility projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
PE in NJ is strongly preferred; additional relevant credentials (e.g.: Certified Municipal Engineer [CME]) will also be considered favorably! Experience working on design, permitting, and reporting activities. Experience working on cross-functional teams to support infrastructure / utility projects, especially with wet utilities. Experience with municipal water projects: fire flow determinations, water flow analysis, etc. Advanced understanding of public-sector contracts processes in NJ (especially at the State, County, and Municipal levels). Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, H&H modeling, GIS, analytical programs, etc.), especially with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2019 (or later); additional experience with WaterCAD is a plus! Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook). Strong leadership skills; project management experience is a plus! Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude. Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
