Overview Provide music therapy services to patients in accordance with the standards of Music Therapy Clinical Practice. Services include patient assessment and individual care planning related to music therapy. Responsibilities Job Description Provide music therapy services in accordance with the standards of Music Therapy Clinical Practice, including patient assessment and individual care planning related to music therapy. Maintain music therapy equipment and supplies. Communicate in a timely manner with interdisciplinary team members regarding changes in patient condition and other information as needed. Document patient care according to established requirements and timeframe. Accountable on an ongoing basis for information communicated at staff meetings. Discusses all unclear issues with the supervisor. Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served Partners with patient care giver in care/decision making. Communicates in a respective manner. Ensures a safe, secure environment. Individualizes plan of care to meet patient needs. Modifies clinical interventions based on population served. Provides patient education based on as assessment of learning needs of patient/care giver. Fulfills all organizational requirements Completes all required learning relevant to the role Complies with all relevant laws, regulation and policies Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education: B.S. or B.M. degree from a college or university program approved by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Must have completed AMTA-approved clinical internship in Music Therapy. Experience: One year recent experience in a healthcare setting or completion of an AMTA - approved clinical internship. License/Certification/Registration: Must be certified by the Certification Board of Music Therapists, or eligible to take the certification exam at the earliest possible date from date of hire. Preferred Education: MS degree Experience: Pediatric medical music therapy experience Additional Requirements: Computer skills (able to document effectively in EMR). Must maintain specific knowledge and skills required for clinical competency in Music Therapy.
