About the Position As the Musical Accompanist for the Theater and Dance Department you will work in cooperation with various dance faculty to provide piano and/or percussion accompaniment and musical guidance during dance technique, modern and improvisation classes under minimal direction. Typical duties include: + Playing musical accompaniment for classes. + Communication with faculty over course needs and cooperation with students and instructors for a smooth collaborative environment. + Equipment set up and break down. Equipment maintenance. Required Qualifications + Improvise and perform music with appropriate rhythms and tempos by observing the movement of dancers. + Prepare and be consistent and the studio. + Ability to play piano or percussion instruments proficiently and follow musical direction. + Ability to read musical notation. + Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty and staff.
