Overview The Insights & Intelligence Director leads the Consumer Insights agenda for the Protein Portfolio (Muscle Milk and Evolve), Beverage Enhancer Portfolio (G Zero, Gatorade Hydration Booster, and Propel) and supports the Equipment and Ecosystem teams within the Functional Hydration Business Unit. Responsibilities The Director of the Beyond the Core portfolio has a dynamic and foundational role in the evolution of research, strategy, & execution for across the protein portfolio (Muscle Milk, Gatorade), Beverage Enhancer Portfolio (Gatorade Zero, Gatorade Hydration Booster, Propel), Equipment (ala Gatorade sports bottles), and the Gatorade Ecosystem (ala Gatorade.com). As a researcher, storyteller, and consultant, you and your team will help elevate consumer & athlete understanding across these brands and categories that have big growth aspirations. In particular, the protein business is expanding into the new Drink to Eat demand space with new-to-PepsiCo innovation that futureproofs the portfolio. Key partnerships include Brand/Marketing (including Consumer Engagement/agency), Research & Development, Category Insights, Sales Strategy, Athlete Intelligence, Foodservice, the Athlete Influence team, PBNA/PFNA & Global Insights relationships internally, as well as external insights vendor partners. Accountabilities: Enterprise Thinking & Leadership: This team needs an Insights leader that thinks beyond the scope one business question or project to see around corners, identify efficiencies, and identify opportunities that grow the business; not just deliver projects. This individual will need to build comprehensive learning plans to provide guidance and transparency to the team, leading the way to integrate human centric decision-making into the broader team’s goals and deliverables. This will take principled prioritization and flexibility to balance the right insight to mitigate risk/optimize within timing constraints. Consult & Guide: By leading research and integrating qualitative/quantitative insight to ‘Know the Business Cold’, you will bring the consumer and athlete voices to the center of decision-making to guide business and communication strategy. You will need to be able to share insight across diverse audiences including project teams, cross-functional partners, and leadership. Develop & leverage expertise across Consumer Research Capabilities (including Zappi, Woxi Forecasting, Ada, Suzy, & VoxPopMe) Articulate now and next consumer needs – this role spans both existing portfolio brands & innovation. Guide to creative messaging and execution that drives growth. Storyteller/Influencer: Forming multiple sources of data into simple, compelling stories that drive action. Clearly articulate what the business should do based on the insight. Tell stories that are compelling to various audiences, cross-functionally and to leadership. Champion: Be proactive & creative in how to address priorities that may be smaller today, but vital for tomorrow (i.e. new categories, new business models) Advocate for growth-driving and future-proofing initiatives from Insights Capabilities that bring fresh paths to Gatorade & PepsiCo success (Growth Navigator, Foresight & Trends, Insights to Inspire, etc.) Representative of the ‘End to end’ human: Be able to think not only about the consumer, but also the shopper mindset. Represent ‘whole humans’ to build empathy and find growth opportunity. *Preferred location is Chicago, IL. Also open to Purchase, NY and Plano, TX. Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $122,300 - $242,700. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 25% of annual salary paid out annually. and an additional target payout of 10% of annual salary is paid out over 3 years following the end of the performance period. Long term incentive equity may be awarded based on eligibility and performance. Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced Degree preferred. 8+ years in insights, consumer research, consulting, and/or data science role(s) preferred. Experience interpreting complex data into a simple, action-driven story, is required. Development of learning plans/research agendas to address a wide range of business questions is required. Experience in Advanced Analytics (e.g. Statistics, Regression) & Forecasting is preferred. This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States.
