Job Seekers, Please send resumes to resumes@hireitpeople.com Short Description: The Network Administrator position is intended to support the Iowa Workforce Development network infrastructure by supporting firewalls, proxy servers, DNS, secure communications, network monitoring, and providing consulting services in those areas.
Complete Description: These functions are performed in the agency’s enterprise data center environment, which hosts hundreds of servers and business applications, and supports functions and business-critical services for agency as well as the regional offices.
The Network Analyst (NA) reviews, plans, and evaluates network systems. May troubleshoot network systems and recommend improvements to network. Provides documentation/project tracking and management reporting. Provides tactical and strategic input on overall network planning and related projects.
Responsibilities include: -Operational support for proxy, load balancing and Internet filtering services for additional security, performance, capacity and availability of hosted services.-Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff-Configure and maintain secure network infrastructure in conformance with security standards and best practices. -Manage networks and assigned systems to prevent unauthorized access while insuring efficient transmission. -Perform log management and monitoring.-Installing firewalls, data encryption and other security measures-Regular communication with other technical teams and business owners-Maintain technical documentation of the environment-At least a general working knowledge of web applications, protocols, concepts, methodologies-Schedule, coordinate and plan effectively-Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written correspondence) in a professional and courteous manner with technical and non-technical personnel.
