National Fleet Manager

The National Manager, Fleet is responsible for all aspects of TireHub’s delivery, material handling, and associated fleet assets deployed across TireHub’s nationwide network of distribution centers.  The position has sole responsibility for managing TireHub’s full-service vendor and fuel programs.  In addition, this position works closely with field and corporate leaders to ensure TireHub is always complaint with all regulatory requirements, as well as internal fleet and fuel related policies. 

This position has ownership of vendor performance management, technical performance of TireHub’s fleet, quality of fleet maintenance, and oversight of all associated systems. This position optimizes fleet productivity while containing related costs.  This role reports to the Vice President of Operations and is based at the corporate head office in Atlanta.

Key Responsibilities:

 Owns the relationship with TireHub’s full-service fleet management vendor. by acting as the liaison between this vendor and TireHub, and vendor accountable to TireHub’s performance standards and expectations  Continuously improves Fleet program by fully leveraging fleet management vendor’s systems and capabilities.   Serves as the single subject matter expert on all aspects of TireHub’s Fleet program, setting policy, standards, and requirements for all users of these assets.   Oversees the proper and timely maintenance of all fleet assets.  Ensures all field leaders have what they need to fully execute the expectations of the National Fleet Manager as the steward of these assets.   Prepares and deploys the appropriate education, training, and awareness programs for employees whose functions or responsibilities require compliance with DOT regulations, related laws and standards.  Ensures safe and reliable vehicles and material handling equipment are available to meet operational requirements.  Implements an asset management strategy for the addition, replacement, and disposal of fleet assets, and works closely with the Vice President of Operations, finance, and field leadership to ensure this strategy meets Tirehub’s financial and operational requirements.  Works closely with the Operations Finance Manager, build, maintain, and own financial budgets, tracking, and reporting for both fleet and fuel expenditure.  Know the numbers.  Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure compliance to DOT, OSHA and EPA regulations.  Ensures maintenance standards are being met  Ensures TireHub’s Fleet is safe, in good working order, and is presentable to the communities in which Tirehub operates.   Monitors the activities of Tirehub’s full-service leasing and other vendors to not only ensure they are meeting our standards, but that associated costs are accurate and needed.   Develops weekly and monthly “health of the fleet” reports for field leaders and the Vice President of Operations.   Provides guidance and recommendations on leading technology to meet continuous improvement, sustainability, and cost initiatives. 

 

Requirements:

10+ years’ experience of managing a fleet of 1,500 or more assets demonstrating a proven track record of fleet safety, continuity of an operational fleet, and cost containment. 5+ years of vehicle and material handling equipment maintenance experience. In other words, technically astute.  College degree preferred. Experience in managing internal and external fleet maintenance shops. Demonstrated experience in creating and updating fleet policy and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of all aspects of fuel programs such as Comdata, WEX, CFN, etcetera and how to effectively manage them.  Comfortable with numbers by having strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, analyze data, and react accordingly.   Ability to building partnerships by working collaboratively with others across all levels of the organization to meet shared objectives.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

This is a fast-paced and dynamic operating environment requiring commitment, high levels of energy, and an all-in attitude in a culture where we truly look out for, and care for, one another. The National Fleet Manager typically works in a corporate office setting but will occasionally spend time in the field conducting fleet inspections and engaging with Field Operations Leaders to ensure good stewardship of our fleet assets.
